Up your game for V-day! Ugh…I'm sorry, I cringed when I read that too.

Spent too much time gaming and got no idea what to do for Valentine’s day?

Great! Me neither. Let me go over some theories with you.

I’m no romantic by any means. I’d sooner drag an unfortunate soul to go watch Deadpool on the 14th than actually do something thematic. But, if experience has taught me anything, it’s that if you pretend you are for this one day — well, it can go a long way.

But

Don’t go out of your way to follow the mainstream and do what everyone else is doing. (Except roses. Think of that as your fail safe). You’re a gamer, right? So show them your appreciation with something along those lines.

Video Game Themed Cards

Alright, hear me out. These things are corny but they can get the job done. Of course, you don’t want to get them any old card. Get one of those game-themed Valentine cards and you’re good to go.

This works exceptionally well if he or she knows what it’s in reference to. If they don’t–well, tough luck. Although the sentiment will probably be appreciated in the best case scenario.

Hint- You might want to have a fail safe ready.

Buy them that game you spend hours playing online

You know that age old meme? Something along the lines of:

If a guy wants you to learn how to play a game, it means you are the most important person in his life. And he probably also wants a healer.

Minus the last part, the rest actually has some truth to it. After all, we spend as much time as we can on our games. Asking someone else to join us is basically inviting them to spend that time together!

Many MMOs have Valentine themed events going on. While I would advise against attending these virtual events and calling it a day on the 14th, it can be a good add on!

Well, yeah — you could use someone to fill a role your raid party is missing, but don’t tell them that.

So look around, there are plenty of Steam sales going on along with some MMORPG’s running promotions as well. Maybe you can convince your Valentine to join you?

Take advantage of discounts from geek/gaming culture centric stores

You know those stores like Musterbrand or Ubiworkshop that sell game-themed clothing and accessories? They always have something going on for Valentine’s day enabling you to get some nifty items on sale.

If your Valentine is the type who’s into your hobby, you really can’t go wrong here.

Looking for an excuse to dress your date up as an Assassin? Now’s your chance.

Now, was all that informative? If you answered yes then I feel better about myself.

That said…do make an effort to do more than this if you’re serious about celebrating the 14th. You’re on your own from here though, I should have proved by now that I’m not the best person to give out Valentine’s day advice.
