Capcom has announced that any and all new content for Street Fighter V will be available digitally. No more buying 3 or 4 versions of the same game for more characters and attacks. Our prayers have been answered!

“Capcom outlined a hefty chunk of their post-launch support plan for the upcoming entry of their flagship fighting series. First off, any and all balance changes will be completely free; you will never be required to buy a newer version of Street Fighter 5 in order to keep up with the current meta and player-base.”

In addition to the above statement, Capcom had recently said that they will make new characters available free when released. Granted not all the new characters will be ready all at once but will be released little by little over time just like most DLC’s these days. The way you can get these new characters is by using in-game current labeled “Fight Money”. Yes, fight money…its funny and fitting at the same time. In case the player doesn’t have enough fight money to buy the new characters and doesn’t feel like grinding, they can use real life money and turn it into “Zenny” which is premium in-game money to buy the characters.

Capcom had also went on to say that at launch, 16 characters will be playable including 12 returning characters such as Ryo and Chun-Li, and 4 brand new characters like the recently revealed Necalli. This is big news for the Street Fighter Series as now no one has to buy new versions of the game to play with new characters, new stages and etc. What a HUGE relief.

No specific dates have been announced for the DLC characters and no price for the money conversion has been announced. Street Fighter V is set for release early 2016 and the beta goes live July 23rd for those who pre-order the game.
