After getting delayed from April to September, some players have wondered if they should skip the Xbox One version of the RPG and wait for the next-generation version instead. But now we know we don’t need to wait at all: the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077 will automatically upgrade to the Xbox Series X edition when it becomes available.

Here’s the news straight from CD Projekt Red and Microsoft:

Despite stating no one should be required to buy the game twice, there’s no indication at this point if a similar upgrade will be offered for the PS4 version of the game, allowing for a free upgrade to the PS5 version when it releases.

We don’t yet know when the next-gen console versions of CDPR’s RPG will arrive, but you can pick up the current-gen edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on September 17 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
