No Man's Sky is a procedurally generated space exploration and survival game developed by Sean Murray and Hello Games. Players are marooned on a random planet and tasked with learning to survive in a sometimes harsh, yet always beautiful universe.
Though the game features a narrative throughline involving the nebulous Traveller, players do not have to follow the story path and are able to explore the reaches of a universe teeming with life at their leisure. The game's alien creatures — the Korvax, the Gek, and the Vy'keen — trade and work with players throughout their adventures, and players are able to learn various alien languages to unlock new dialog options.
Released in 2016, No Man's Sky was initially met with much controversy. Many players felt the game was incomplete or did not fulfill many of its pre-release promises. However, Hello Games has provided a plethora of small and large updates, including Foundation, Path Finder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, Abyss, Beyond, and Synthesis to bring the game closer to its original vision in the years following its initial launch. The game now features multiplayer, base building, procedurally generated missions, animal domestication, VR support, and much more.
No Man's Sky is currently on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
