Project CARS, the recently released racing game by Slightly Mad Studios, has come under some scrutiny from the community lately due to the persisting bugs and problems users are experiencing in the game since launch, with no sign of any fixes. But now fans are even angrier, as it looks like the game won’t be released on the Wii U.

One of the promised features during the game’s crowdfunding campaign on World of Mass Development was that a Wii U port would eventually appear alongside its PC, PS4, and Xbox One companions.

However, Slightly Mad announced back on May 27th that the Wii U version of Project CARS is on an ‘indefinite hiatus’ with Studio Head Ian Bell saying:

“We still haven’t given up on Wii U 100 percent, but if we can’t make it work, we will move to the next Nintendo machine.”

That’s a very different stance to what they promised during their crowdfunding campaign, however /u/ThyGrimOfDeath over on the subreddit /r/GamerNews has discovered a forum post from Ian Bell.

Unfortunately, I think it’s safe to say that Nintendo users won’t be seeing Project CARS for a while.

Slightly Mad also announced a few days ago that work on Project CARS 2 has already started, and they will be utilizing their crowdfunding platform, WMD, once again. You can find everything about that here.
