In Monster Hunter Stories, players hatch, fight alongside, and ride monsters rather than just hunt them. The game was originally released in Japan on October 8, with an updated version on July 26 (digital) and July 27 (physical). A demo of the game was released in the U.S. and Europe on August 10, which allows players to experience the first sections of the game, transfer save data to the full version of the game, and unlock an exclusive costume for Navirou.

Monster Hunter Stories is available for Nintendo 3DS both physically from local retailers or digitally through the Nintendo 3DS eShop
