This year’s Blizzcon, which ended yesterday, brought with it a slew of new announcements from Blizzard Entertainment. A few of these announcements were pretty big in terms of the gaming industry: Overwatch, and the Warcraft movie, for example. Blizzard also announced plans to raise money for charity with a new adoptable pet in their hugely popular MMO, World of Warcraft.

Argi is the adorable goat pictured above, and starting December 3rd, WoW players can “adopt” her on Blizzard’s Battle.net Shop for $10. Additionally, Blizzard stated that:

“For every Argi pet purchased between December 3 and December 31, 100% of the adoption fee…will be donated in support of the American Red Cross to assist in Ebola Relief efforts, helping enable the Red Cross to provide assistance to those in need.”

So come December, World of Warcraft players can not only buy a new pet to join their characters on adventures, but also feel good about spending their $10.

After the announcement was posted, fans immediately started voicing their opinions. The majority of comments are extremely enthusiastic both for the new pet option and for the donation to charity.
