2021 and early 2022 could see multiple new Nintendo Switch games release, a new report from Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki suggests, and they’ll be big’uns.

While industry analysts predict lower Switch sales and fewer Switch games, Mochizuki’s sources in supply and manufacturing say otherwise. Nintendo is expecting similar or higher Switch console sales in the 2021-22 fiscal year and forecasts 250 million software unit sales.

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons drove much of 2020-21’s sales, Serkan Toto of Kantan Games told Bloomberg that Nintendo has “a much stronger blockbuster software lineup” in store, alongside the so-called Switch Pro, rumored for a holiday 2021 release. Mochizuki said some of his sources in the supply line were apprised of these plans as well.

What these blockbuster marquee games might be is anyone’s guess. Breath of the Wild 2 is long overdue for an update — though that hasn’t stopped us pondering over what we want to see from it — as is Bayonetta 3. We know Skyward Sword remaster releases in July and Splatoon 3 is sometime in 2022, which could fall in Nintendo’s fiscal year.

Beyond that, the list of announced games with both a chance of releasing this year and blockbuster potential is slim.
