Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra expansion offers more challenges to get the most out of your Pokemon experience

Prepare for Double the Challenge in Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra

Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra expansion offers more challenges to get the most out of your Pokemon experience

Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra has plenty of challenge and variety in store if early previews are any indication. The second part of the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass shakes things up with Dynamax Adventures and the ultra-difficult Galarian Star Tournament.

We knew about these features before, but IGN’s preview of them goes more in-depth. Dynamax Adventure rewards players not just with legendary Pokemon, but with items like the nature-changing items so hard to find in the main game.

The rest of Dynamax Adventure is as advertised. It’s a team effort with three other players or NPCs using rented Pokemon. The goal is facing off against powerful Dynamaxed Pokemon to reach the back of the Den, where a legendary awaits.

Players can choose which Pokemon they want to battle against and can swap out their rented ones at certain points as well. Arceus willing, there will be few to no Isabellas with Magikarp dragging everyone else down.

Finishing Crown Tundra‘s story, which revolves around new Pokemon Calyrex, is just the start. Players will need to complete Isle of Armor‘s story and the main game’s story to unlock the Galarian Star Tournament. Here, they can challenge Galar’s finest, including the Elite Four, Gym Leaders, and other key trainers.

The Tournament reportedly offers new insight into these characters, though previews didn’t show what that insight might be like.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra releases October 22. If you haven’t downloaded the Expansion Pass already, don’t forget to choose the version that corresponds with your game.
