Retailer Posts Potential Prince of Persia Remake Leak

A Guatemalan retailer posted two listings for a Prince of Persia remake before removing them a short while later.

Prince of Persia fans have been wandering the desert for years, waiting in vain for news of a new Prince of Persia game or remake. A new leak from a Guatemalan retailer might mean that time of wandering is coming to a close.

Tiendas MAX, a Guatemalan tech chain, posted two listings for Prince of Persia Remake earlier on Aug. 19. One is for Nintendo Switch and the other is for PlayStation 4, with both set for a November 2020 release date.

The Switch version has a noticeable price increase of 90 quetzals (roughly $11), though MAX’s prices for video games don’t always have a reliable U.S. equivalent. For example, Paper Mario: The Origami King currently sells for over 700 quetzals ($90 U.S.), so the official U.S. release of Prince of Persia Remake on Switch might not have a price increase, unlike some other Switch games.

There’s currently no sign of an Xbox Prince of Persia Remake listing or one for next-gen consoles, including the Xbox Series X, also scheduled for a November release date.

Twitter user KenXyro originally spotted the listings, which were then re-posted on ResetERA and semi-confirmed as true by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. Schreier mentioned tweets claiming the listings are fake “won’t age well.”

As of this writing, MAX has removed the Prince of Persia Remake listings. Ubisoft’s next Ubisoft Forward presentation airs sometime in September, though. More news or an official Prince of Persia Remake may happen soon, so stay tuned to GameSkinny as it develops.
