Since 1999, Sony Online Entertainment has been known for developing popular titles such as the Everquest series, Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside, and the recent Early Access release of zombie survival MMO H1Z1. The company is still currently developing the Everquest-branded projects Everquest Next and Landmark, but with the rebranding of the company as an independent developer, these projects will now proceed with a multi-platform approach in mind.

Commenting on Columbus Nova’s acquisition of his company, Smedley was optimistic about the company’s future, and promised good things for loyal gamers, saying, “We will continue to focus on delivering exceptional games to players around the world, as well as bringing our portfolio to new platforms, fully embracing the multi-platform world in which we all live.”

Have you been a long-time fan of SOE’s games? Will the availability of Daybreak’s future releases on other platforms make you more likely to try them? Let us know in the comments!
