Street Fighter 6 Adds Rashid to the Character Roster in Just a Few Weeks

Rashid and his whirlwinds are fast approaching the roster of Street Fighter 6.

Rashid’s confirmed release date has been revealed, and he’ll join the Street Fighter 6 roster sooner than some expected. While SF6 is barely a month old, it turns out that we won’t have to wait long for a new fighter to join the fray. We already knew the lineup for the first year of DLC characters, each given a very general season-based release window. Rashid is kicking it off, and a new trailer has narrowed his release date to mid-summer.

Rashid’s Confirmed Release Date

Capcom has confirmed that Rashid will join Street Fighter 6 on July 24 and be available for all platforms, including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Street Fighter 6’s Rashid Explained

One of the more beloved additions in Street Fighter 5, Rashid is returning and looking more laid-back than ever. He’s sporting an updated design that everyone seems to love, although his original costume is set to return, too. Those with the Year 1 Ultimate Pass will unlock the old costume immediately. You’ll also be able to unlock through World Tour mode, the same way you did for other character costumes.

Fans of the previous game are bound to be really happy or really worried about his inclusion. Rashid of the Turbulent Wind was a strong character with an oppressive fighting style in his debut title. The gameplay we see in his trailer makes it appear like that’s still the case, with him using familiar and new whirlwind moves to trip up his opponents.

How to Unlock Rashid in SF6

You’ll also be able to try him out for free if you don’t mind a tiny bit of grinding. The free track in every Fighting Pass so far includes two Rental Fighter Tickets. These can be exchanged for one-hour access to a DLC character. The current one, called Rashid Arrives!, is running until July 23 and features various items related to the whirlwind parkour master.

Rashid, and every other DLC character, can be purchased ahead of time with either the $29.99 Year 1 Character Pass or the $49.99 Year 1 Ultimate Pass. It’s likely that he’ll be available as an individual DLC as well upon his release. The next character to be released will be the newcomer A.K.I. in Autumn 2023. Given that he’ll be out on July 24, many are assuming A.K.I. will be properly revealed at this year’s EVO.
