Warlords of Draenor: Updated Female Undead Model

The new female undead model for Warlords of Draenor was shown on WoW source. Check it out!
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

In the newest episode of WoW source, three of the team devs were interviewed and gave us a sneak peak of the upcoming updated female undead model for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.

The above image is what the female undead model has looked like for the last nine years straight. This model is very dated, the bones look a little weird, especially the spine bone. Her face hardly looks scary aside from the glowing eyes.

This is what the updated female undead model looks like in Warlords of Draenor. This is the design the team decided to go with. It is still early on in the process, which is why it is in the T pose. Currently it has no animation and, as you can see, the eyes aren’t even open.

The bones look much more detailed, especially from the back view. The spine bone looks much more realistic. While the face is still more pretty than scary, it does look more undead.

While the animations are not ready to be shown yet, the devs were ready to show some of the different hairstyles they’ve worked on. Anyone who has spent time in the Undercity will recognize all of these hairstyles. It is great seeing them in much greater detail.

Since the face they showed for the old model was the one that seemed the least undead looking out of all the choices, I’m hoping we’ll see some scarier looking female undead face choices like we saw for the male undead model at the Blizzcon panel about Warlords of Draenor’s art.

If you haven’t seen the Warlords of Draenor: updated character models yet, the above are the changes in store for the male undead. You can almost smell the rot on him. I hope both male and female undead models will have customization options that look scary, attractive, or scarily attractive in order to please as much of the fanbase as possible.

Stay tuned for more Warlords of Draenor information as it gets released. While you’re here, don’t forget to enter the Blizzcon swag bag giveaway. Undead lovers will have a chance to win an Arthas miniature. He might have been the worst enemy of the Forsaken, but he’s still undead.
