You Can do Pokemon Go Raids at Home Soon

You'll be able to play even more Pokemon GO from home soon, as Niantic looks to promote health and safety.

Earlier this month, Niantic announced it was making some adjustments to Pokemon GO to help accommodate players dealing with self-isolation and social distancing. Now, Niantic is taking things even further and said it’s planning to make even more of Pokemon GO playable at home. The mobile ‘mon catcher is about to be a lot less mobile.

The news comes from a blog post on Niantic’s website. The post highlights two specific areas where we can expect modifications. The first is Raid battles. These normally require several people gathering at a specific location to take down a strong or even Legendary Pokemon. That’s obviously not such a hot idea right now, so Niantic is working on making Raids playable at home.

How that will work and when it rolls out, though, remains to be seen.

The other area getting some tweaks is the new GO Battle League. Niantic is dropping the walking requirement that gates entry into the league to zero.

The post also mentions Niantic is exploring other ways to deliver live events like the annual summer Pokemon GO Fest to people at home. It’s not surprising after events like E3 2020 were cancelled in recent weeks, and it’ll be interesting to see how Niantic delivers on this promise.
