It is so cute, I’m gonna die.

Dragon Up, an iOS game created by East Side Game Studio, is seriously the cutest game I have ever seen in my life. But behind all the cute dragons is a pretty cool game for your pocket.

This free game, available in the iPhone/iTunes app store, doesn’t require much thought, but is still something fun to do. The premise of the game is to hatch dragons in an abandoned dragon roost. You collect vomited gold (yes, the dragons vomit gold; no, it’s not inhumane) and jewels along the way. During the game you will be tempted by a mysterious door that will only open once you’ve filled all the spaces in the roost.

One of my favorite parts of this game is the adorable art. Dragon Up is from the creators of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Atomic Betty. You would think this game would be too childish for adults to enjoy but the nerdy references make it worth it, like the Lord of The Rings themed treasure you can get.

Another positive is the fact that you can buy jewels to make the game easier via micro-transactions, but if you don’t want to shell out the extra money it won’t stop you from playing. This is something that has been annoying me with free games like Candy Crush Saga. Dragon Up doesn’t keep you from playing if you don’t want to pay extra for those jewels, you can gain them easily through quests.

One major downside to the game: it gets pretty redundant. Sending your dragons on quests would be better if you could participate in the quests as well. Another issue is the lack of a tutorial in the beginning. It is hard to do some of the tasks, like buying treasure and feeding dragons, because there is no mention of where you can do those things.

Dragon Up is a game that I would suggest for all ages. Despite its few flaws, I’m sure this game will be able to keep your attention for hours on end. Plus it’s so freakin’ cute!
