Besides just searching every garbage pile and scavenging for Forged Iron, you can reliably make it in the Forge. It’s made from Iron and Clay which are much more accessible materials. Let’s see how to operate a Forge when making Forged Iron:

  • Interact with the Forge and select Forged Iron.
  • You’ll need 12 Iron and six Clay.
  • Place them in the Smelting section.
  • Place some Wood in the Fuel section and turn on the Forge.
  • Wait a bit as enough Iron and Clay are generated for a Forged Iron ingot.
  • Click on Craft beneath the Forged Iron icon.
  • Pick it up from the Output section.

Repeat this process for as long as you have enough Iron, Clay, and fuel. Now you can craft useful items like an AK-47 Machine Gun, a Battery Bank, or a Crucible for making Forged Steel. Forged Iron is highly utilized in the game.

Other Ways to Get Forged Iron

There are also several other ways to get Forged Iron which can be useful depending on your luck, tools, and resources. They are the following:

  • You can randomly find Forged Iron while exploring and scavenging.
  • You can use the Disassemble tools to salvage Forged Iron from objects in the world that are made from it like Lamp Posts, Beverage Coolers, Battery Banks, etc.
  • Forged Iron ingots can be bought from traders for around $36.

Lastly, if you ever need to, you can place Forged Iron in a Forge and it’ll be melted down into regular Iron. Each Forged Iron ingot can net you around 10 Iron pieces. Scrapping it will also produce 3 Iron.
