Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’t Know boasts a cast of 8 playable characters. This cast goes up to 9 if players decide to buy the $2 DLC of Peppermint Butler.

Each of the different characters in AT:EtDBIDK has their own set of stats, their own special ability, their own attacks, and their own imagination specials. Some characters can block, some can float.

Since this game is so long, I haven’t discovered every character’s specials or stats yet. Currently, I am missing two characters from my cast. As I continue to progress in the game, however, I will go back and add information to this list.

Stats

Each character in AT:EtDBIDK has their own set of stats to begin with. All of them can be upgraded by talking to specific NPCs. Each upgrade will cost a set amount of treasures. These upgrades will have to be purchased for each individual character; characters do not share the upgrades.

Thumps
  • Character’s health
  • Mr. Cupcake can upgrade this stat
  • 3 Upgrades
  • Upgrade 1 costs 30 treasures
  • Upgrade 2 costs ? treasures
  • Upgrade 3 costs ? treasures
Rowdiness
  • Character’s attack damage
  • Muscle Princess can upgrade this stat
  • 3 Upgrades
  • Upgrade 1 costs 60 treasures
  • Upgrade 2 costs 200 treasures
  • Upgrade 3 costs ? treasures
Focus
  • Character’s charged attack time
  • Lady Rainicorn can upgrade this stat
  • 2 Upgrades
  • Upgrade 1 costs ? treasures
  • Upgrade 2 costs ? treasures
Imagination
  • Character’s number of special attacks
  • NEPTR can upgrade this stat
  • 2 Upgrades
  • Upgrade 1 costs ? treasures
  • Upgrade 2 costs ? treasures

When Lumpy Space Princess uses her imagination attack with two bars filled, it is different from the one with only one bar. I do not know if this is LSP specific in AT:EtDBIDK or if it’s something all characters can do. This information will be found out shortly and this list will be updated to show that.

An asterisk (*) near an ability means that I’m not 100% sure if that’s what the ability does, but I am near certain.

As you can guess, each of these characters in AT:EtDBIDK plays pretty distinctively. If you want someone you can speed through levels with, I would say pick Marceline. She can easily float over pits and pools. If you want someone tanky, pick Cinnamon Bun. He is slow, but he can both take and give hits pretty well.
