Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get the Spellsparkler

The Spellsparkler is a magic item that gives the caster two Lightning Charges when they deal damage with spells or cantrips. It’s especially nice since you can grab this weapon during Act 1, getting an early damage boost. But how do you get the Spellsparkler in Baldur’s Gate 3?

How to Get the Spellsparkler in BG3

If you want the Spellsparkler, you’ll have to head to Waukeen’s Rest first, a place that’s easy to miss in the northern portion of the Act 1 map. It’s specifically a quest reward, and you’ll be able to pick it from three options, with the other two being the Sparky Points and the Joltshooter. All three are fairly similar weapons that utilize Lightning Charges.

When you arrive at Waukeen’s Rest, you’ll notice that there’s a fire in progress and a member of your party will likely comment about the shouting and say that somebody needs help. Head to the north side of the courtyard and interact with the Paladins there to start a quest to rescue Counselor Florrick.

Counselor Florrick is on the second floor. Specifically, you’ll find her at the location circled on the map below, although some players have reported a bug where she’s already dead by the time they arrive at Waukeen’s Rest, which makes matters a bit difficult.

Help her out of the burning building to complete the quest “Rescue the Trapped Man.” Then, speak with Counselor Florrick to pick your reward from the three options listed above, which includes the Spellsparkler. The quest then moves onto another portion that involves searching for the Grand Duke, and completing this gives you a lot of information about Wyll and his family.
