Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Make Healing Potions

A Potion of Healing can save your party from wiping in Baldur's Gate 3. Learn how to make them here.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, knowing how to craft healing potions is valuable because you won’t want to expend too many spell slots for restorative options. These draughts are bonus actions, so you don’t lose out on attacking if you use one during your turn. However, I found the Alchemy interface to be a bit confusing at first, so if you feel the same, I’ll run you through how to make the essential concoctions.

Alchemy is available through your character screen. Potions of Healing require a Suspension and Salts of Rogue’s Morsel, and all the ingredients you need can be found in the world as you pick up plants.

First, go into your character screen and to the tabs in the top center to find the Alchemy one. You’ll see on the left side the drop down menus for each type of ingredient and potion you can make. So, for the healing potion, you need x1 Suspension of any kind and x1 Salt of Rogue’s Morsel.

How to Make a Suspension in BG3

I made a Suspension of Mergrass, which requires three pieces of Mergrass. However, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Wiki has a list of all the Suspension recipes, and each one can be learned when you pick up an ingredient for it. Mergrass just happened to be the easiest one for me to grab because I picked up plenty of it after the Nautiloid crashed.

Much like Suspensions, Salts of Rogue’s Morsel requires three pieces of Rogue’s Morsel to craft. I was able to find this around trees by using “Alt” to show items on the ground. Running from the beach at the beginning to Emerald Grove left me with more than enough Rogue’s Morsel to do some crafting.

Once you have the ingredients, you can extract your Salts and Suspension, then pop over to the “Potions” menu and craft your healing potions.

Knowing how to craft healing potions in Baldur’s Gate 3 can give you a tool that makes the difference in a battle, and every resource counts in this game.
