Best Stowaways Early in Another Crab’s Treasure

Here are the best stowaways to for the early game in Another Crab's Treasure.

Stowaways are the trinket system in Another Crab’s Treasure that provides stat bonuses and passive effects. There are plenty to choose from, and you’ll find them regularly. However, there are more optimal choices in the early game. Here are my best early game stowaways in Another Crab’s Treasure.

In general, the best early game stowaways are those that provide offensive upgrades or VIT. Here are some great options:

  • Sea Star: Raises VIT by +3. VIT upgrades increase your HP, allowing you to make more mistakes as you get used to the combat system. Furthermore, they also allow you to benefit more from your shell’s damage reduction by being able to tank more attacks.
  • Mussel: Increases ATK by +2. This one’s great because increasing ATK up to a certain point allows you to reach a sweet spot where you’re defeating most regular enemies with a charged attack and one or two regular strikes. Furthermore, elite enemies become drastically easier to defeat, like the large comb crabs or lobster knights, because landing 3 or 4 charged attacks allows you to take them down.
  • Rusty Nail: Boosts ATK by +4, reduces MSG by -3, and requires RES 3. This is an excellent early game choice because the first few bosses are all about physical strikes. You don’t even unlock Umami (MSG) spells right away, and even when you do, they become drastically better later. So, if you’re going for a balanced Umami/Physical build or full Umami, the Rusty Nail is a great choice early. It becomes amazing if you don’t plan to use Umami abilities much.
  • Whelk: On the other hand, if you do plan on using Umami abilities regularly, the Whelk is for you. It requires RES 2, but it boosts your Umami ability damage. I like combining it with Anemone for a full caster build early before you get better options at New Carcinia.

Lastly, remember that you can upgrade your stowaway slots at New Carcinia and even buy new ones. That’s it for my Another Crab’s Treasure guide on the best stowaways early. For more ACT guides, check out how to beat the Royal Shellsplitter or the best stats to increase early.
