Candy Crush Soda Saga brings some new stuff to the Candy Crush Saga formula, some of which being pretty great! .. But some being a big pain to get.
The new special candies and how special candies combine with one another are some of the best new additions to the series, but because there are so many combinations it can be hard to remember them all and use special candies to their fullest.
Much like in Candy Crush Saga, using special candies well in Candy Crush Soda Saga is a big part of pushing through the game’s levels. This is especially true the higher level you get to.
You’ve seen the special candies in-game, but you may not know how to get some of them regularly. Here’s a quick rundown of all the special candies found in the game and what to combine to make them.

Special candies and how to make them
Swedish Fish
Matching 4 candies in a square creates a homing Swedish Fish. These candies home in on a random obstruction or soda bottle.
Striped Candies
Matching four candies either horizontally or vertically will create a Striped Candy.
These candies wipe an entire line or column, including obstructions. If you make a vertical match of 4, you will get a horizontal Stripe Candy. A horizontal match of 4 makes a vertical Stripe Candy.
Wrapped Candies
Creating a match of 5 in these shapes at any angle will create an explosive Wrapped Candy.
Wrapped Candies explode twice: Once when they are matched, and again after the surrounding candies have settled after the first explosion.
Color Bombs
Creating a match of 5 in a straight vertical or horizontal line will create a powerful Color Bomb.
When swapped with another candy, Color Bombs will destroy all candies of that color.
This has some particularly powerful combinations, as covered below.
Coloring Candy
The Coloring Candy is made by making a match of 6, with a matching candy next to a line of 5.
This candy is particularly powerful, much like color bombs. When swapped with a candy of another color, they change all candies of the swapped candy’s color to that of the Coloring Candy.
For example, if you swap a green Coloring Candy with a yellow, all yellow candies will become green.
Special candy combinations
There are a number of powerful special candy combinations to be found on Candy Crush Soda Saga, and they can be harder to remember than the original Candy Crush Saga just because there are more of them.
Here we’re going to cover what they all are, so you can make the most of each move as you push through the game’s levels.
Swedish Fish combos
 | Turns every candy that is the same color as the Swedish Fish into a Swedish Fish. They all then seek out obstacles and soda bottles. |
 | Turns candies that are the Swedish Fish’s color and the Coloring Candy’s color into Swedish Fish. They all then seek obstacles and soda bottles. |
 | Sends a Wrapped Swedish Fish out that destroys an obstacle or soda bottle and the area around it. |
 | Sends out three Swedish Fish that take out obstacles or soda bottles. Destroys one obstacle or bottle per fish. |
 | Sends out a Striped Swedish Fish that will destroy obstacles or soda bottles, then clear a row or column depending on the direction of the stripes. |
Color Bomb combos
 | Very powerful! Clears all normal candies not covered by licorice. Removes every obstacle from the board (but only one layer of frosting). |
 | Turns all candies that are the same color as the Wrapped Candy into Wrapped Candies. All of them then explode. |
 | Sends out a shockwave that destroys most obstacles and candies in the area. Can be a huge help, but less powerful than this combo in Candy Crush Saga. |
 | Turns every candy that is the same color as the Swedish Fish into a Swedish Fish. They all then seek out obstacles and soda bottles. |
 | Turns all candies that are the same color as the Striped Candy into Striped Candies. The directions of their stripes will vary. All of them then go off. |
Striped Candy combos
 | Destroys the row and column centered on the candy that was swapped. |
 | Destroys 3 rows and 3 columns centered on the candy that was swapped. |
 | Turns all candies that are the same color as the Striped Candy into Striped Candies. The directions of their stripes will vary. All of them then clear their respective rows/columns. |
 | Sends out a Striped Swedish Fish that will destroy obstacles or soda bottles, then clear a row or column depending on the direction of the stripes. |
 | Turns all candies that are the color of both the Striped Candy and the Coloring Candy into Striped Candies. All of them then clear their respective rows/columns. |
Wrapped Candy combos
 | Destroys 3 rows and 3 columns centered on the candy that was swapped. |
 | Turns all candies that are the same color as the Wrapped Candy into Wrapped Candies. All of them then explode. |
 | Sends a Wrapped Swedish Fish out that destroys an obstacle or soda bottle and the area around it. |
 | Destroys candies in a 5×5 area instead of the standard 3×3. Explodes again once surrounding candies have settled. |
 | Turns all candies that are the color of both the Wrapping Candy and the Coloring Candy into Wrapping Candies. All of them then explode. |
Coloring Candy combos
 | Very powerful! Clears all normal candies not covered by licorice. Removes every obstacle from the board (but only one layer of frosting). |
 | Turns candies that are the Swedish Fish’s color and the Coloring Candy’s color into Swedish Fish. They all then seek obstacles and soda bottles. |
 | Turns all candies that are the color of both the Wrapping Candy and the Coloring Candy into Wrapping Candies. All of them then explode. |
 | Turns all candies that are the color of both the Striped Candy and the Coloring Candy into Striped Candies. All of them then clear their respective rows/columns. |
 | Very powerful! Turns every candy on the board into the color of the Coloring Candy that was swapped. This chains into them combining into several special candies, which then all go off at once. |
