How to Fix Your Profile Was Signed Out Error in CoD MW3

This is one of the many errors in MW3 that has been plaguing players who are queuing for a match. Instead of joining a match, you’ll be sent back to the main menu. The error can appear due to an unstable internet connection but there are various other reasons as well. Let’s try to troubleshoot it with some common fixes and those suggested by the community.

Check Your Internet Connection

The most common issue causing this error is an unstable connection. Be sure to do a speed test and verify that everything is working smoothly on your provider’s side. I also recommend playing the game on a wired connection with a LAN cable connected to your router. Playing over Wi-Fi can sometimes cause even a millisecond of disconnect which causes this error to pop up.

Restart and Reconnect

If you’re already on a wired connection, try restarting your router and reconnecting. You should also try restarting the game itself. While you’re at it, logging out of your account whether you’re on PC or console should also be attempted. This means logging off Steam/Battle.net on PC or your PSN/Xbox account on consoles. Once you’re logged back in and have restarted the game, check if the error persists.

Change Voice Settings

Reddit and Steam Discussion users reported that changing their Voice Channel settings worked in preventing this error:

  • Go to MW3 settings in the top-right or via your controller’s Options button.
  • Locate the Audio tab.
  • Find the Voice Channel options.
  • Set it to “Party Only.”

This’ll prevent your channel from connecting to other users thus stabilizing your connection and hopefully preventing the error.

Check the Sledgehammer Trello and Twitter for Updates

Sledgehammer has created a Trello where they catalog all issues and fixes currently plaguing players. Chances are that once you read this, this issue might already be on there. If not, feel free to contact Activision customer support and I recommend tagging @‌SHGames and @‌CODUpdates on Twitter with your issues. This has worked for me for some other errors I had.

There’s also a method some users reported involving deleting your local files. However, I don’t recommend attempting this since I’ve tried it and it didn’t work for me personally. You’ll simply lose progress for no reason.

We hope this guide on how to fix Your Profile Was Signed Out error in CoD MW3 has worked for you. If not, we can only wait for Sledgehammer to fix this issue in future updates, hopefully it’s sooner than later. For more MW3 guides like how to fix crashing, check out our game hub here.
