Cyberpunk 2077: How to Get Skippy in 2.0 (Phantom Liberty)

There's only one gun in Cyberpunk 2077 that will talk to you: Skippy, the Iconic Smart Pistol. Here's how to find him.

Skippy is one of the biggest meme weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a semi-sentient, annoyingly vocal Smart Pistol that’s also semi-hidden in Night City. As an Iconic weapon, Skippy is also one of the most powerful guns you can get your hands on. Though you might not want to, given his irritating personality. Adding the weapon to your inventory is easy, as it isn’t tied to a quest or locked behind some door. Here’s how to find Skippy in Cyberpunk 2077.

Skippy is easy enough to find. There’s a Side Job marker in the southwest section of Heywood, in the Vista Del Rey portion, near the river. Specifically, you’re looking for a fenced-off alleyway. Climb over the fencing, and you should see the gun in an open briefcase next to a dead body.

Shortly after picking Skippy up, he’ll project a cartoonish bullet hologram with a big mouth and eyes and explain his function to you. You can then choose between Stone Cold Killer and Puppy Loving Pacifist modes. As a Smart Pistol, Skippy can target specific areas of an enemy’s body, should you be equipped to work with Smart weapons. Stone Cold Killer mode will have Skippy always target an enemy’s head, and Puppy Loving Pacifist has him only target their limbs.

Bear in mind that Skippy cannot equip weapon mods. So there’s no way to make him totally non-lethal. Should he still do enough damage to kill an opponent, they’ll die. There’s, of course, no penalty for going lethal in most cases. But if you’re fighting a cyberpsycho for Regina Jones or are otherwise required to keep your enemies alive, I would recommend something else.

After a little over a week passes with Skippy in your inventory, you can complete a mission called Machine Gun for Regina, where you can give Skippy back to her, as she’s his original owner. She eventually calls and gives him back to you (possibly with the new name, Daisy). However, his AI has been removed.

Whether you choose to return Skippy or keep him is your choice, but if you invested in Smart Weapons, he’s one of the best you can use in all of Cyberpunk 2077. Just, you know, you’ll need to learn to deal with him talking to you.
