The Mantis Blades are one of the coolest new weapon types in Cyberpunk 2077, and in Phantom Liberty, you can get a custom set of them once used by MaxTac. MaxTac, or the strongest forces NCPD has to offer, plays a role in both a possible role in the expansion storyline and can also be fought at a 5-star crime ranking. However, if you want their unique Mantis Blades, you’ll need to make specific choices that lock you out of getting other Iconic items. We’ll go over all the details in this guide.

Near the end of the Phantom Liberty storyline, as part of the Firestarter mission, you can either help or betray Songbird. To get the MaxTac Mantis Blades, you need to betray her. Then, during the following mission, Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos, choose to call Mr. Hands. “Mention” that you need to take down a MaxTac convoy. The fixer will direct you to a netrunner who can give you access to their convoy’s route.

Next, speak to the netrunner in question, the Quickhack merchant who gives you the Ping Quickhack after the heist of Konpeki Plaza. This time, she has the details you need and a request. Proceed with the MaxTac convoy attack, but before you initiate, provide Mr. Hands with the coordinates of the takedown.

Your opportunity to send the coords is just after speaking to Reed and taking up your position for the attack. Sometime after beating MaxTac, Mr. Hands will text you and mention that he left you something in your megabuilding apartment. Head home and you’ll see a loot chest near your Stash closet.

Inside the chest are the MaxTac Mantis Blades. In my game, their damage was a bit lower than some of the options you could buy at a Ripperdoc, but their perks included a health regen effect on defeating a Bleeding enemy, and they increased the DoT damage my attacks inflict. I highly recommend waiting until you can get the Tier 5 (Legendary) version, as it will save you time, money, and materials.

And that’s how you get the MaxTac Mantis Blades in the Phantom Liberty expansion to Cyberpunk 2077. A bit on the involved side, but hey, they’re free, and they’re pretty good. For more on the latest content to Cyberpunk 2077, check out our guides hub.
