Destiny 2 Ikelos SMG Guide: How to Get and God Rolls

For Arc builds, there are few better weapons in Destiny 2 than a god roll IKELOS SMG.

Getting an IKELOS SMG god roll these days might be troublesome. However, with the right one, you can automatically improve your Arc build. With the optimal perks, this is one of the best SMGs in the game. Here’s how to get it and its best god rolls in Destiny 2.

The IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3, the third iteration of the weapon, was originally released in the Season of the Seraph at the end of the Witch Queen expansion year. With that Season behind us, there’s no consistent way to get the SMG, and it’s impossible to get crafting patterns.

Instead, to get the IKELOS SMG, you need to wait for it to appear in either the Gunsmith’s or Xur’s inventory. The problem? Both Banshee-44 and Xur have a rotating selection of weapons from all past seasons going back to the Season of the Hunt from Beyond Light. For the unfamiliar, that’s almost a full three years of content or 12 seasons with half a dozen weapons per season.

Making matters worse, there’s no guarantee either vendor will have a good IKELOS roll when the weapon does enter their inventory. If it doesn’t, I guess you’re just out of luck.

There’s one upside, though. Banshee-44’s inventory cycles daily, so while you may have to wait a bit for your next chance at a good IKELOS SMG, it won’t take too long to come back. Xur’s inventory is static for the weekend that he appears, but he comes with a new stock when he arrives again next Friday.

The next question is, what rolls are you looking for for PvE and PvP? IKELOS is technically better against the enemies of humanity than other Guardians, but it can hold its own in the Crucible as well.

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Seraph Rounds
  • Trait 1: Threat Detector
  • Trait 2: Voltshot

With this IKELOS SMG god roll, the weapon does its absolute best work up close, with tons of stopping power, Arc 3.0 synergy, and weapon uptime.

  • Voltshot is an absolute no-brainer here, as the Jolt effect that spreads to all affected enemies helps clear trash mobs and provides supplemental damage to tough enemies.
  • Threat Detector helps with weapon usability at its ideal range.
  • Seraph Rounds are better Ricochet Rounds, so there’s no reason not to go for them.

IKELOS SMG PvP God Roll

  • Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Seraph or Ricochet Rounds
  • Trait 1: Perpetual Motion
  • Trait 2: Rangefinder

For PvP, weapon controllability and range are key, especially when the IKELOS SMG has to fight against the likes of The Immortal and Unending Tempest. That’s why the god roll maxes out the Range stat while rewarding you for staying on the move, as well as having some Stability and Handling buffs.

Even a god roll IKELOS SMG is technically outclassed by newer or more specialized weapons in both PvE and PvP, especially if you’re not using an Arc build, but within its niche, there are few better choices.

That’s how to get the IKELOS SMG in Destiny 2, as well as the best god rolls for PvE and PvP. For more content, check out our guides on the Autumn Wind Pulse Rifle, Calus Mini-Tool SMG, and more in our D2 guides hub.
