Of course, changing the Lightfall difficulty from Classic to Legendary adds mission modifiers that will let enemies deal more damage or gain more health, among quite a few other things. And there are the expected burn modifiers to keep in mind before starting any mission or encounter.

When you begin Lightfall, you’ll be given the choice between “Be Brave” and “Become Legend.” These are Classic and Legendary difficulties in everything but name. Choose one or the other to start the Lightfall campaign on that chosen difficulty. If you’ve accidentally skipped it, want to revert to something easier, or make the game harder, you can change difficulty in just a few simple steps.

You can change the Destiny 2 Lightfall campaign difficulty at any time, though you won’t be able to claim the rewards given in Legendary mode if you do so. You must complete the campaign on Legendary difficulty to receive the following Lightfall rewards:

  • Exotic Armor
  • 1770 Power Gear Bundle
  • 8 Upgrade Modules
  • 300 Strand Meditations

To change the difficulty after you’ve initially selected it:

  • Visit any mission on the map through the Director.
  • You’ll see Classic or Legendary in the clear box above the gree Launch box in the bottom right corner.
  • Click the clear box to open a new menu that lets you choose between the two difficulty options.
