How to Build a Ball Lightning Sorcerer in Diablo 4

The Ball Lightning Sorcerer build is famous for its unmitigated speed, as well as its lingering damage that comes from its main enchantments and mastery skill. Before you reach levels 45 through 50, you’ll need to be careful with your positioning to stay alive. Once you go beyond level 50, you’ll have a more powerful build, but all the essentials of the early setup should be preserved. That’s why I broke the Ball Lightning Sorcerer build into two stages:

In the beginning, it’s important to support your lightning spells since you don’t have that much Mana. This includes Ball Lightning, Arc Lash, and others, with the ultimate skill Unstable Current.

Best Vampiric Powers (Level one Through 50)

Your early Vampiric Powers should help you build up a lot of attack speed and damage bonuses, as well as make your healing more effective:

• Hemomancy
• Ravenous
• Hectic
• Anticipation
• Accursed Touch

Best Sorcerer Skills (Level One Through 50)

As I already mentioned, you won’t have enough Mana to cast everything you want in the early stages, so focus on these skills before you reach higher levels:

• Basic Skill: Arc Lash
• Core Skills: Chain Lightning, Fireball
• Defensive Skills: Teleport, Ice Armor, Frost Nova

At first, your gear will consist mostly of rare items and only a few Legendaries, but these will suffice before you acquire unique and truly powerful items:

• Helm: Defender’s Guard
• Chest: Steadfast Tunic of Might
• Gloves: Steadfast Gloves of Control
• Pants: Ramble Wraps
• Boots: Courier Crushers
• Weapons: Mage Ingot, Ley Line Haunt
• Amulet: Rapid Necklace
• Rings: Recharging Loop, Prodigy’s Loop

Ball Lightning Sorcerer Build (Level 50+)

Basics of the Build (Level 50+)

Once you reach and cross the Level 50 threshold, you can start using Gravitational Aspect to boost your Ball Lightning damage by another 15-25%. Of course, you still need to keep all your defensive skills intact, as well as your Chain Lightning Enchantment.

Best Vampiric Powers (Level 50+)

As for new Vampiric Powers, I still recommend keeping Ravenous and Anticipation to keep your high speed of attacks and reduce the cooldown times, but change the rest for higher damage:

• Ravenous
• Anticipation
• Metamorphosis
• Prey on the Weak
• Domination

Best Sorcerer Skills (Level 50+)

As I already mentioned, there’s no need to change any of your basic skills whatsoever, but you can improve them with the following additions:

• Vyr’s Mastery
• Align the Elements
• Devouring Blaze

Best Sorcerer Gear (Level 50+)

If you want to go deeper into the Nightmare Dungeons with this build, then you need much tankier gear as well:

• Helm: Mage-Lord’s Runic Skullcap
• Chest: Raiment of the Infinite
• Gloves: Gravitational Runic Gloves
• Pants: Tibault’s Will
• Boots: Esu’s Heirloom
• Weapons: Bone Blade of Control, Conceited Fiendish Folio
• Amulet: Amulet of Disobedience
• Rings: Recharging Band, Storm Swell Circle
