Diablo 4: How to Farm Sigil Powder

Sigil Powder is needed to access Nightmare Dungeons and the Abbatoir of Zir in Diablo 4.

Nightmare Dungeons and the limited-time Abbatoir of Zir are some of the harder endgame events in Blizzard’s ARPG, accessible only through the use of sigils crafted with a special resource. Here’s how to farm Sigil Powder in Diablo 4.

What is Sigil Powder Used for in Diablo 4?

Sigil Powder is a material used to craft Nightmare Sigils and the Bloodforged Sigil at the Occultist. These sigils are the only ways to access the endgame dungeons at the various tiers crafted. For the Abbatoir of Zir event, you can craft the next level higher when you complete a tier. However, making sigils isn’t cheap. The Tier 1 Bloodforged Sigil takes a whooping 800 Sigil Powder to create, which increases at every level up to 2,000 for tier 25.

How to Farm Sigil Powder in Diablo 4

Thankfully, there are two easy methods when it comes to farming Sigil Powder in Diablo 4.

  • Scrap Nightmare Sigils
  • Complete Abbatoir of Zir

While you could run off with just that information, I go into more detail about each method below should you need a little more help or want additional information.

Scrapping Nightmare Sigils for their powder at an Occultist is the main way to get the resource. To unlock salvaging at the Occultist, you’ll need to complete a Nightmare Dungeon at Tier 3, as well as the following Sigil Crafting priority quest.

It may seem counterintuitive to scrap a sigil to make another, but the idea is to destroy lower-tier ones to craft those of a higher level. Each item destroyed will award a different amount of powder, depending on the dungeons difficulty and the sigil’s tier.

While adventuring through a Nightmare Dungeon, various mobs will drop sigils. Collect all of these as you make your way to the boss, ensuring you have extras to scrap. You want to destroy those at low levels or with affixes that are harder for you to deal with. This will ensure the dungeons you do visit are easier to complete with better rewards, while still stockpiling powder.

Complete the Abbatoir of Zir

When you finally have 800 Sigil Powder and can access Abbatoir of Zir, you’ll find that finishing the dungeon has an additional reward. The first level of the endgame event rewards 1,200 Sigil Powder. That’s enough to craft the second-tier Bloodforged Sigil and a level 60 Ancestral Nightmare Dungeon Sigil.

While I only have the powder reward for the first level, it can be assumed that increased tiers reward increased powder since you need it to continue through Abbatoir of Zir. Not everyone will be able to farm through this dungeon, but it’s one of the fastest ways to get Sigil Powder for those looking to level up their endgame challenge.
