Does Minecraft Legends Have Couch Co-Op? Answered

Wondering if Minecraft Legends has couch co-op? Here's what you need to know.

Minecraft Legends offers a couple of ways for fans to play together cooperatively. However, you may be wondering if MC Legends has couch co-op, as well. After all, there aren’t many modern games that do. Below, we answer that question.

Is Couch Co-Op Available in Minecraft Legends?

The answer to whether there’s couch co-op in Minecraft Legends is no; there is no couch co-op functionality in Mojang’s action strategy game. You can only take out Piglin armies and Outposts together by playing online.

The only way to play in the same space is if you have two consoles or PCs in the same room or area. And then, you would play on your own screens; there would be no split-screen capabilities.

MC Legends does feature full cross-platform play across PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, so any combination of platforms would suffice.

How to Play Co-Op Game in Minecraft Legends

Whether you’re playing co-op with friends on the same platform or a different one, you can play together by following the steps below. Up to four players can join together to play the MC Legends campaign and Legends & Myths.

  1. Select “New Game” from the home screen.
  2. Go to “Friends” menu (in the bottom right corner of the screen).
  3. Select up to three friends in the “Player Access” list for the Campaign mode.
  4. Select your difficulty in the same menu.
  5. Once your invited friends accept their invitations on their respective platforms, you need to press the “Start” button.

If you’ve been invited, and you want to join a co-op game with your friends, then here’s how you can join a session:

  1. Select “New Game” from the home screen.
  2. Go to “Friends” menu.
  3. Select a friend from the list who invited you to a session.
  4. Select “Join” option.

Note that all invited friends don’t carry over the progress from the co-op session. Only the game’s host keeps game progress. However, all members in the co-op session will be able to retain the items that they’ve collected during the campaign.

And, if you’re still looking to get that couch co-op experience with your friends, then we’d suggest trying it out in Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons, as those two games actually do have a local co-op with split screen.

All you need to do in Minecraft is to enable the “Multiplayer” mode and ask your friends to turn on their controllers. Once the game begins, you’ll see a pop-up on screen that will ask a player to join the current session. As soon as you select your friend tags from the list, the screen will be split into sections, and you can enjoy the game together.

If you want to play couch co-op in Minecraft Dungeons, then you need to enable “Offline” mode, and ask your friends to turn on their controllers, log-in as guests, select their skins, and press “Join” for the co-op session to begin.

And that answers the question of whether MC Legends has couch co-op, as well as the steps for playing together with friends. Hopefully, we’ve answered your question regarding Minecraft Legends having couch co-op, and stay tuned for more Minecraft Legends tips and tricks articles right here.
