Unlike other battles in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, where you can choose to fight or Auto Battle, the wars are more strategy-based. You’ll have to carefully maneuver your troops to keep the enemy from breaking through your defenses. Here’s how to win the war against Chappel.
How to Win the War Against Chappel in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
The Empire is waging war against The Watch, and the smug, traitorous Chappel leads them. During this war sequence, your main goal is to defend the town from the Empire’s invasion. To do so, you need to prevent Chappel and his troops from crossing into the red territory.
You can move your troops around the grid by selecting the move option on the turn phase and selecting the space you want them to move to. Moving multiple groups of soldiers into the same space will form them into a larger garrison that will be more powerful.
On the bottom right, underneath your actions, you can also see how much power that group has. Each character in that group provides more damage for them based on their own skills. Some of them can also provide unique bonuses in defense or magic.
There are three main groups of Chappel’s army that you will need to defend against. Two of which will approach the walls and one which will come straight through the middle. Thankfully, you have three different groups as well. Here’s how I suggest placing them:
- Sabine – Left wall
- Ymir – Right wall
- Nowa – Center gate
Even though Sabine starts at the center, I suggest having her head toward the left wall right away instead. This way, Nowa can switch places with her (using the ‘change facing’ action and then moving) and take the center. He will better hold off Chappel and Seign as he joins the battle.
The only movement you’ll really need to do is bringing both Sabine and Ymir to the side walls and Nowa to the center. Once Nowa is in the center, move him forward so he’s directly in the gap of the wall where the gate was blown open. He will hold his ground here and keep Chappel from entering.
After you have them all in these spots, initiate the battle and watch as Chappel’s troops try to infiltrate the walls. If everything goes as planned, they will successfully make the troops back off. However, you’ll have to stand your ground for another few turns to completely reroute them.
You can use the Legion Command action to boost your damage for one attack if things don’t look like they’re heading in the right direction. Also, keep an eye on the Rage Mode or Morale Mode bars, which you can activate when they get full, to get an advantage. You won’t need to move any of them again since Chappel’s army will keep coming to you.
After the second round, one of the side groups will merge into the center with Chappel and Seign. For me, it didn’t really matter at this point since the others were already low enough in health that Nowa could finish them off. However, you could also bring Sabine or Ymir over to assist or flank them if needed.
Once Chappel reaches a low enough health, he will command all his troops to retreat, and you’ll claim your brief victory. Stay on your toes though, because you’ll never know what the Empire might pull next.
