Evolve Eevee in to Sylveon with Pokemon-Amie

Here's how you get Sylveon, along with other useful things in Pokémon-Amie.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

After hands-on experience with Pokemon-Amie in Pokémon X, and evolving Eevee into Sylveon, I can tell you exactly how it is done. The Pokemon-Amie system also has other perks in battle, which I will detail later. First, let’s talk about how to get the new fairy-type Eevee, Sylveon.

How to Evolve Eevee into Sylveon

Sylveon was the first Fairy-type Pokémon to be revealed, even before the Fairy type was officially announced. Here is the info straight from the Pokémon X pokedex,

No. 085: Sylveon. Intertwining Pokemon. Type: Fairy. Height: 3’03” Weight: 51.8 lbs. It sends a soothing aura from its ribbonlike feelers to calm fights.

Now that you know a little about Sylveon, let me explain how to obtain it.

First, you want to catch an Eevee, which you can do on route 10. This comes right after defeating the Second Gym leader in Cyllage City. I would recommend catching one at level 19, because it will have the Fairy move Baby-doll Eyes. One of the requirements to evolve into Sylveon is to have a Fairy-type move on Eevee.

Now that you have your Eevee, start up Pokémon-Amie, make sure you have at least three Pokémon in good health, and select Eevee as your Pokemon.

If you look at the screen when you select switch, you will see three meters. They are Affection, Fullness, and Enjoyment. All three of these need to be maxed to evolve into Sylveon. Now, tap on Eevee and select play. Start by petting your Eevee a few times, then tap the music note icon in the top right, this will bring up mini-games.

There are three to choose from, and they raise your Pokémon’s enjoyment meter. They also reward you with Puffs, which you feed your Pokemon to increase both its fullness and affection meters. I suggest trying to complete each level of the three mini-games, then repeatedly play whichever you’re best at. The higher score you get, the better Puffs you receive.

Keep switching between petting, playing mini-games, and feeding Eevee until all three meters are maxed. This took me around an hour to complete. After you’ve done that, and you have a Fairy-type move on Eevee, just level Eevee up and it will evolve into Sylveon.

The Benefits of Pokemon-Amie

There are several benefits in battle your Pokémon will get for raising its affection to max in Pokémon-Amie. So far I’ve noticed that you get more experience than other Pokemon. It has the chance to survive a one-hit KO, higher critical-hit ratio, can dodge attacks occasionally, can rid itself of paralysis, and possibly others that I have not seen yet. If this can happen in online battles, then using Pokemon-Amie will definitely be worth it.

You can give your Pokémon a high-five.

Have you found any other extra benefits from the Pokemon-Amie system? Have you obtained Sylveon? Discuss in the comments.
