FFXIV Copperbell Mines Guide Part 1

Here is a guide to the first two bosses of Copperbell Mines.
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Today I am covering the two mini bosses for Copperbell Mines. This is a level 17 dungeon so it’s not too complicated, just a little bit of strategy involved. The two bosses I’ll be covering in this guide are Koltos and Ichorous Ire. Both of these are easy fights as long as you are prepared for them.

Koltos

Koltos is the first mini-boss, however he doesn’t spawn at the start of the fight. You first start with engaging waves of Spriggans that die within one to two hits. There will be multiple Bombs that spawn during the Spriggan waves as well, so make sure you kill those as soon as they spawn because Bombs hurt. Once you clear all the waves Koltos spawns, the fight becomes a tank and spank.

Here is a wave of Spriggans prior to fighting Koltos.

Ichorous Ire

Ichorous Ire is a bit more challenging than Koltos. Attacking Ire directly is just a waste of time as it takes no damage in its initial form. There is a lever in the middle of the room; pushing the lever down summons a Bomb–do not kill these Bombs.

The tank needs to use a single Shield Lob or Tomahawk depending on the tank’s class to pull the Bomb over to Ire. The Bomb will self-destruct, splitting Ire into two. Make sure you aren’t hit by self-destruct as it will one-shot you.

It will take three Bombs to break Ire down to a point where you can kill him, assuming every bomb hit all pieces of Ire. After the first Bomb, every Bomb will also spawn a Spriggan that tries to kill the Bomb. Whichever DPS is not activating the lever should be killing the Spriggan as soon as it spawns.

That is about it for the two mini-bosses in a nutshell; if you have any comments, questions, or concerns leave a reply below. Look for the second half of this guide early next week following a coinciding episode of FFXIV TVC. For more of my guides check my guide list that covers all my FFXIV guides.
