You might be looking for an Earthbreak Aethersand farming guide in FFXIV to craft high-end crafter gear. Here, I present what I find to be the quickest methods to gather Earthbreak Aethersand, and it doesn’t rely on Purple Gatherer’s Scrips.

Earthbreak Aethersand is used to make Crafter’s Alkahest and Zoisite, both of which are then used for crafting gear. While there are multiple ways to get this valuable ingredient, they aren’t equally efficient.

If you have the Gil, you could simply purchase Earthbreak Aethersand from the Marketboard. You might also consider gathering collectables with the Botanist or Miner jobs. However, I find that Fishing is faster for gathering Earthbreak Aethersand.

How to Get Earthbreak Aethersand in FFXIV

To get Earthbreak Aethersand, you need a gathering job in FFXIV, which would be Botanist, Miner, and Fisher. If you haven’t picked up any of these jobs, or you want to pick up another one, here are the starting points:

  • Botany: Speak with Fufucha in Old Gridania (6.5, 7.8).
  • Mining: Speak with Adalberta in Ul’dah – Steps of Thal (10.8, 14.3).
  • Fishing: Speak with Sisipu in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (7, 14).

From here, there are two primary ways to get Earthbreak Aethersand: Aetherial Reduction and Gatherers’ Scrip. You’ll need your crafting job to be Level 90 to get the Aethersand.

Aetherial Reduction

You can perform Aetherial Reduction on gathered items by selecting them in your inventory and choosing them on the menu. I use a keyboard and mouse to play, so that means right-clicking the item for me. There are four items that give you Earthbreak Aethersand:

  • Earthen Quartz: Quarried from Mare Lamentorum (21.7, 34.7) between 12-4 a.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Nosceasaur: Spearfished from Upper La Noscea (24, 21).
  • Sophora Roots: Harvested from Labyrinthos (10.6, 34.8) between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Verdigris Guppy: Spearfished from Upper La Noscea (25.8, 21).

Gatherers’ Scrip

One Earthbreak Aethersand costs 300 Purple Gatherers’ Scrips at any House of Splendors vendor under Level 90 Materials/Bait/Furnishings. You can get Gatherers’ Scrips from turning in collectables to the House of Splendors. Specifically:

  • Rarefied Annite: Mined from Elpis (8.1, 36.5) between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Pewter Ore: Mined from Thavnair (32.4, 24.6) between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Eblan Alumen: Mined from Garlemald (12.9, 21.8) between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Chloroschist: Mined from Labyrinthos (25.3, 24.2) at any time.
  • Rarefied AR-Caean Cotton Boll: Harvested from Ultima Thule (9.3, 33.2) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Iceberg Lettuce: Harvested from Labyrinthos (9.6, 22) between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Elder Nutmeg: Harvest from Elpis (25, 5.5) between 12 a.m. and 12 p.m. Eorzean Time.
  • Rarefied Ironwood Log: Harvested from Elpis (28.1, 25.2) at any time.

These items can be exchanged at a Collectable Appraiser for Purple Scrips, which you can use to purchase Earthbreak Aethersand from Scrip Vendors. You can find them in any city that has a House of Splendors set up.

How to Farm Earthbreak Aethersand in FFXIV

Best Spearfishing locations for Earthbreak Aethersand

For this farming method, you need to be Level 90 with the Fisher job and have Spearfishing unlocked.

Then, you’ll head to Camp Bronze Lake’s Aetheryte in Upper La Noscea. Dive into the water around the coordinates (25.8, 21), where you’ll find Spearfishing locations.

You want to get the Verdigris Guppy, so you’ll need Collector active while fishing. The Verdigris Guppy is a small, fast fish, so it can be a bit difficult to grab.

When you have the Verdigris Guppy, you can select it in your inventory and use Aetherial Reduction for a chance to get up to six Earthbreak Aethersand from each guppy.

I was able to get 10 Earthbreak Aethersand in about 30 minutes, which is much faster than grabbing Collectables (most of which are dependent on in-game time) as a Botanist or Miner and trading them for Purple Scrips, especially since one Earthbreak Aethersand costs 300 Scrips.

That’s what you need to know about how to farm Earthbreak Aethersand in FFXIV. We’ve got plenty of other FFXIV guides if you need help, such as our Splendorous Tool guide or our Splendorous Fishing Locations.
