How to Merge Accounts in Fortnite

If you’re like me and like to game on multiple devices, odds are you’ve created more than one account to play Fortnite. Epic introduced crossplay back in 2018, which encouraged gamers to branch out to more consoles. You can play the game on basically every gaming device, so it’s easy to end up with more than one leveled account on your hands.

Epic enabled merging accounts when crossplay was developed, so that players could combine any newly existing accounts. Unfortunately, the feature was abused by scammers. So, you can’t merge accounts in Fortnite anymore. However, you can link an account across devices via your Epic Games account.

How to Link Accounts in Fortnite

Linking your account to your Epic login will carry your progress over to all devices where you play Fortnite. Notably, any unspent V-bucks won’t carry over to a different account. However, all cosmetics and skins will safely transfer. So, if I play Fortnite on my Xbox and want to play with the same cosmetics on my PlayStation, linking my account will let me do so. Here’s how to do it.

  • Create an Epic Games account.
  • Login to your Epic Games account.
  • Select your Account profile in the upper right corner.
  • Select Apps and Accounts from the left menu.
  • Choose the platform where your account resides.
  • Link the account by logging in with the device’s login.
    • For example, if you play on Xbox, use your Microsoft login.

Linked accounts will not share any challenge progress, or Battle Passes. So, you can only work through a Battle Pass from the account that purchased it. Regardless, I highly recommend you do this even if you don’t need to, because connecting your Fortnite account to Epic Games will safeguard the progress you’ve made in the game. Think of it as a backup incase something goes ary with your console account.
