Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos finally arrived on September 26, taking us to the land of Anthos. The new entry features much of the farming staples that franchise fans will recognize from previous entries. However, some features have changed. Here’s how to get seeds, grow crops, and harvest hybrids in The Winds of Anthos.
How to Get Seeds, Grow Crops, and Harvest Hybrids in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos
How to Get Seeds in The Winds of Anthos
Getting your hands on a wide variety of seeds is made easier than ever before in The Winds of Anthos. Throughout the landscape of Anthos, you’ll find several types of Harvest Wisps. Each offers up different kinds of seeds to sow, though you’ll need to consider your approach to successfully pocket these items.
While red Harvest Wisps are generally easygoing and amicable, their blue counterparts are a bit more timid. They also hand over a greater amount of seeds at once, which comes in handy if you’re looking to gather crops that are out of season. To secure a blue Harvest Wisp’s gift, sneak toward them and speak with them.
If you run out of a specific type of seed, you can also top off your supply by visiting the designated plant shop in each town. In previous entries to the series, it could be tough to scrounge up enough cash to purchase seeds. However, they’re much more affordable in The Winds of Anthos, averaging about 50 Gold. A wider variety becomes available as you progress through the story.

How to Grow Crops in The Winds of Anthos
The process of growing crops hasn’t changed all that much in The Winds of Anthos. However, it runs more smoothly with control modifications like continuous watering and tilling. To get started, you’ll need to till your field. This readies the soil for planting.
Next, you’ll need to select which of your seeds to sow. This can be done by navigating the pop-up menu at the bottom of your screen. Just bear in mind that the seeds you’ve previously planted will remain on auto-select unless you switch to a different seed type.
After you’ve planted your seeds, you’ll need to water them to finish the process. You can also choose to fertilize them if you have any fertilizer or compost on hand. You’ll gather compost for free once you have a few animals in your barn, which helps to speed up plant growth.
Depending on the species, crops can take a few days to reach maturity. Once grown, you can harvest the crops in your field. Some, like strawberries and tomatoes, will continue to bear vegetables or fruit a few times after they’re first harvested. That said, most crops will need to be replaced.
How to Harvest Hybrids in The Winds of Anthos
As you continue to plant and harvest crops in The Winds of Anthos, you’re bound to pocket a few hybrids from time to time. This happens at random in the early stages of the game. I was lucky enough to harvest a few blue marguerite and goldsilver corn in my first few days. However, you’ll generally harvest more hybrids the more you grow a specific type of flower, fruit, or vegetable.
The hybrid species will also act as a bonus item rather than replacing the original crop. This amendment comes in handy when you’re trying to gather specific crops to complete quests.
That’s all there is to getting and harvesting crops in The Winds of Anthos. Once you master each part of the process, you’ll have a green thumb in no time. For more tips to live your best life in Anthos, check out our dedicated guides hub for Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos.
