The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, the latest update for popular MMORPG, introduces a brand-new Elder Scrolls Online companions system, which allows players to recruit AI allies to help them conquer the world of Tamriel. This feature is only available in PvE mode, though, and it cannot be enabled in PvP or Solo Arena modes.
Our Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood companions guide will provide you with tips on how to unlock companions in Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood, including where to find their locations, how to summon them, and their skillsets.
How to Unlock ESO: Blackwood Companions
Since the overall level of difficulty has been upped in the Blackwood update, Bethesda has added two new NPC companions to help players deal with more difficult parts of the game’s PvE content:
- Bastian Hallix
- Mirri Elendis
Bastian Hallix
Bastian Hallix belongs to the Dragonknight class of recruits, which allows him to use both martial arts and magical skills. This means that he can fulfill two roles, those of tank and healer.
He also possesses the Bastian’s Insight perk, which increases the chance of finding better potions in loot chests by 30%.
He can be recruited in the southeastern part of the Deepscorn Hollow (see the map above for his exact location). Talk to him, and you will start the chain of three quests, which you must complete in order to recruit Bastian as your companion:
- Competition and Contracts
- Things Lost, Things Found
- Family Secrets
Mirri Elendis
Mirri Elendis is of the Nighblade class, which makes her very effective at stealth, mobility, and blade-wielding. This NPC can be an excellent ally in combat, serving as a DPS option.
Mirri possesses the Mirri’s Expertise perk that increases the chance of finding hidden compartments inside loot chests by 30%, which may produce additional gold and items.
This Dark Elf can be recruited in the north of Doomvault Vulpinaz (see the map above for her exact location). Once you find her, she will ask you to go on three quests:
- Shattered and Scattered
- A Mother’s Obsession
- Dead Weight
It is recommended to recruit both of these companions as quickly as possible, as they complement each other nicely in terms of their skills.
Once you have them both unlocked, you can summon them through the Allies menu in the Collections. You can add them to the Quickslots for quick summoning whenever you need them.
