Just as the NFL gives fans multiple ways to see the action on the field, Madden 23 allows players to change the camera angle to get a better look at formations pre-snap and the play post-snap. Some players may even find that certain perspectives better help them find lanes and open areas of the field.
Whether you want pro reads like Tom Brady, to YAC ‘em up like Deebo Samuel, or be an unstoppable force like Joey Bosa, changing the camera angle can have a decisive impact on how you play Madden 23. Luckily, doing so is just as easy as it was in Madden 22.
You can change the height and position of the default in-game camera by using the D-pad. There are four options for offense and five options for defense. From the starting camera angle, you can increase or decrease your field of view by pressing:
- Up to get the lowest and closest view behind the QB.
- Up again to get an angeled view back toward the quarterback from the right side of the defensive line (defense only).
- Down to get a higher, wider view.
- Down again to get the highest, widest view.
- Down once again to get an angled side view.
As in previous years, you can’t roll through camera angle selections by pressing up at the very top selection or down at the very bottom selection. You must scroll through them all from top to bottom and bottom to top as the play clock winds down.
The camera angle is locked in its current position once the ball is snapped; there is no way to change the perspective once the play has begun. The angle can be changed after the current play has ended, the next play has been selected, and each team breaks the huddle.
The camera toggle option is turned on by default, though you can turn it off by going to Options > Settings > Visual Feedback > Cameras > Camera Toggle on/off. If disabled, pressing up on the D-pad brings up the receiver selection menu for Hot Routes on offense. For defense, pressing up shows the Coverage Adjustments menu, and pressing down Zone and Assignments menu.
The Visual Feedback menu is also where you can enable or disable the passing cam. Dynamic Camera Effects can be turned on or off at the bottom of the Accessibility section in the same menu or in the Accessibility menu itself.
Finally, there are several different camera options accessible from the main menu, though strangely, not in-game. In the main menu, click the gear icon on the right side of the screen, then select the Visual Feedback submenu. Scroll down to Cameras. Here, you can choose default offensive and defensive camera settings:
- Offense: Standard, Wide, All-22, Broadcast, and Zoom
- Defense: Standard, Wide, All-22, Broadcast, Defensive Perspective, and Zoom.
You can also tweak offensive and defensive player-lock options with Cinematic, Traditional, and Wide.
