Minecraft Guide: How to Get a Saddle by Fishing

There are lots of ways to get a saddle in Minecraft, but fishing might be one of the best ways.

If you were hoping to craft a saddle in Minecraft using a crafting table, then you’ll be disappointed. Why? You can’t make a saddle, but you can certainly find one if you know where they spawn. You can find saddles in treasure chests in blacksmith shops, dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, and desert temples. But you can also get a saddle in Minecraft by fishing.

In this guide we’ll go over exactly how to fish and get a saddle in Minecraft, provided you get lucky.

How to Get a Saddle in Minecraft by Fishing

Fishing in Minecraft is a peculiar process that allows you to catch not only fish but also other items, including the saddle. Although your chances of actually bagging a saddle via fishing are much slimmer than hooking a fish, your RNG improves the more you throw a worm in the watering hole.

If you don’t want to randomly amble around looking for a saddle, I’ve tested this method out to mitigate some of the RNG.

Step 1: Craft a Fishing Rod

Unlike the saddle, it is possible to craft a fishing rod on a crafting table using three sticks and two pieces of String. Sticks can be obtained from ordinary wooden planks and strings can be obtained from spider webs.

The crafting recipe for the fishing rod in Minecraft looks like this:

Step 2: Increase Your Chances of Getting a Saddle

So how do you up your chances of getting a saddle fishing in Minecraft? There are lots of various enchantments that can be used to improve the chance of getting certain items. One such enchantment can double the chance of hooking the saddle while fishing: the Luck of the Sea enchantment.

Ironically, getting this exact enchantment also requires some luck. You can find it either in the treasure chests inside desert and jungle temples, or you can trade with a village librarian for one.

Step 3: Start Fishing

When you have the fishing rod and the Luck of the Sea enchantment, you can start fishing for a saddle at any source of water, whether it’s naturally generated or artificially built.

Cast your line into the water and watch the float. When the flat submerges, it means that you’ve caught something. Start reeling it in! Who knows what it could be.
