How to Get More Data Discs in My Time at Sandrock

To get more Data Discs in My Time at Sandrock, you need to gather this item from junk piles or ruins. There are also other viable sources of Data Discs in the game:

  • Purchasing from shops: The Eufaula Salvage Shop sells 10 Data Discs every day, but each item costs 22 gol. That’s why I don’t recommend this at all since there are better ways to spend the currency.
  • Treasure chests: Some treasure chests might contain Data Discs.
  • Quest rewards: Certain quests may also offer this item as a reward, though these are few and far between.

Salvaging Junk Piles

You can get Data Discs in My Time at Sandrock fairly early when you’re asked to go to the Eufaula Salvage junkyard, which is just a stone’s throw away from your Workshop. Simply use your Pickhammer on the junk lying around, and there’s a chance you’ll receive Data Discs. The junk piles in various locations could also net you this particular resource.

Exploring Ruins

There are several ruins that you’ll get to explore in the game. One of these, the Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins, becomes accessible after completing the Picking Up the Slack quest. Once you reach the underground area, you can dig through the earth using your Pickhammer. Along the way, you might discover relics, as well as materials and resources like Data Discs.

What Are Data Discs Used For?

Data Discs have a few notable uses:

  • Research: After finding your first Data Disc, you’re given a quest called On the Shoulders of Buried Giants, which requires you to talk to a villager named Qi, who’s found in the Research Center. The item then becomes a currency that you spend to unlock blueprints. In turn, these let you build more advanced crafting stations.
  • Relic Restoration Machine: The Relic Restoration Machine in the Museum uses up Data Discs. You can use it to make relic-type items that can be turned into furniture or gifts.
  • Gifts: Speaking of gifts, Data Discs can also be handed over to NPCs in an attempt to increase your relationship status with them.

I personally suggest saving a few Data Discs for research unlocks. You’re going to need advanced crafting stations to progress further in the campaign and to see the town grow before your eyes.
