There are 57 characters in the global release of Pixel Heroes: Tales of Emond. Each hero has a unique set of abilities that can be well utilized within your team. In my guide, I’ll provide you with a tier list of the best characters in Pixel Heroes, including their stats and best abilities.

Pixel Heroes SS-Tier Characters

Star Guardian: Freyja

  • ATK: 6,011
  • DEF: 722
  • HP: 25,278

Freyja is by far the most important hero in the game due to her support skills, especially the Resurrection ability. I can use her Glow of Love ability any time and revive a fallen ally. The same ability heals allies in case I use it on surviving heroes. But she also has a powerful debuff skill, Guardian’s Wing, which removes two debuffs from an ally with the lowest HP. Freyja can also buff HP by 20% and attack by 15% of my allies using the Goddess of Love ability. On top of that, Freyja automatically heals all allies by 68% of her ATK at the end of each turn.

Goddess of War: Valkyrie

  • ATK: 6,402
  • DEF: 722
  • HP: 24,084

Valkyrie is the most powerful DPS assault character, with a very effective armor break combo. Her Holy Spear attack allows me to take out enemies from the front and middle rows with a 30% chance of breaking their armor. One of my favorite skills is the Divine Entity, which is a self-buff that increases my attack by 20%, HP by 15%, and critical damage by 10%. But Freyja can also buff her allies with two combo moves: Divine Ire and Divine Shield.

Pixel Heroes S-Tier Characters

King of Uruk: Gil

  • ATK: 3,838
  • DEF: 845
  • HP: 31,017

Gil may look tender, but she’s the strongest tank in the game, with one of the highest defense stats and damage immunity. Besides that, Gil has a tremendous Divine Fist attack that deals 283% physical damage with a 60% chance of inflicting severe injury. Of course, I’d rather use her as a tank first and foremost due to her Divine Guard skill, which redirects 70% of damage from an ally onto herself. The more I use this ability, the stronger my damage resistance grows.

Goddess of Death: Hela

  • ATK: 6,535
  • DEF: 722
  • HP: 23,669

Hela is a fantastic assault hero with quite a long reach due to her giant scythe weapon. I can swing it using the Reaper’s Arrival attack and even hit the enemies in the back row, dealing 298% damage. The best part about this attack is that it executes the target if it manages to drop its HP below 20%. Hela can also heal and buff herself with the help of her Soul Harvest ability, which triggers every time a hero dies, including summoned creatures.

Succubus: Adlith Morrigan

  • ATK: 6,404
  • DEF: 722
  • HP: 23,810

Succubus would be an excellent alternative to Hela, especially if you like playing with charm debuffs. For example, her Fatal Attraction charm prevents enemies from using their skills, which can seriously cripple their entire strategy. If one of the enemies tries to apply a charm to Succubus, you can prevent this by casting Succubus’s Charisma spell, which grants her immunity and, at the same time, buffs her attack power by 15%.

Pixel Heroes A-Tier Characters

God of Death: Thanatos

  • ATK: 3,838
  • DEF: 845
  • HP: 32,310

Thanatos has the highest HP stat in the game, which makes him a great tanky character. He could be an excellent alternative to Gil, although I find his abilities slightly lacking in power. But he does have a taunt ability called War Annihilation, which automatically deals 213% physical damage. He also has several debuff effects, but his best is Dark Erosion, which inflicts a Plague status effect on enemies.

God of Time: Cronos

  • ATK: 7,068
  • DEF: 722
  • HP: 21,332

Cronos is a mighty magic hero with some of the highest attack power and area control in Pixel Heroes. It’s a shame his HP is so low, which means he needs to be buffed and healed frequently. But he has a terrific AoE attack called Chrono Blade, which inflicts 100% magic damage on all enemies. If I suddenly do get lethal damage, I can apply his Reincarnation ability to self-revive during each battle.

Shroud Walker: Chen

  • ATK: 5,754
  • DEF: 606
  • HP: 21,721

Please don’t pay attention to the low ATK stat of Chen, as his main strength is hidden within his CT abilities. His Infinite Blade attack deals 298% physical damage with a 20% CT rate increase chance. But I prefer his Harmony buff combo even more, which boosts his auto-attacks to 120%. This means that all you need to do is sit back and watch him wreak havoc on the battlefield.

Pixel Heroes B-Tier Characters

Eternal Spear: Irelia

  • ATK: 5,754
  • DEF: 606
  • HP: 21,721

Irelia may not have stats on par with the heroes I’ve mentioned above, but she has some really cool skills that still make her a solid option. For example, Sovereign Spear deals damage to enemies and prevents them from healing. And if you want to simply apply the Poison status effect to a target, then opt for her Annihilation Thrust attack.

Dawn Paladin: Brigitte

  • ATK: 3,546
  • DEF: 927
  • HP: 28,073

When creating a party, you might want to consider a pure defender and tank if your team is full of assault heroes. Brigitte would be a good choice in that case, as he has the highest DEF stat in the game. Her attacks may not be too strong, but almost all of them apply shields and damage immunity. These attacks include Cavalry Charge, Gear Up, and Rise to Glory.

Steallar Master: Alkaid

  • ATK: 6,262
  • DEF: 606
  • HP: 19,481

Finally, be sure to provide the magic defense to your party as much as the physical one. Alkaid is a master of magic control, able to disable all enemies for a whole turn with the help of her Meteor Shower spell. However, I’ve found that the best strategy is to use her speed debuff abilities, such as Starfall and Lunar Gaze, that can consistently cripple an enemy’s speed of movement each turn. This may provide a huge advantage on the battlefield for your whole team.

That’s it for my tier list of the best characters in Pixel Heroes. Stay tuned for more PH tips and tricks articles right here.
