The Chomper is an amazing plant in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare when used correctly. Their chomp attacks cause a decent amount of damage, and they instantly kill zombies by swallowing them. They are fairly vulnerable when swallowing though so you have to use hit-and-run tactics and play the Chomper like a stealth class.
Chomper's customized abilities are superior in almost every way, but there may still be times when you want to use the older versions. I'll go over each new ability, the differences between the old and new versions, when to use them, and tips for each.

Chomper Alternate Abilities
The normal abilities for the Chomper are: Goop, Burrow, and Spikeweed. The alternate abilities are: Super Sticky Goop, Sprint Burrow, and Spiky Spikeweed.
Super Sticky Goop
The Super Sticky Goop completely stops Zombies from moving, and not just slow them down like the normal Goop. They can still turn, but not move. This makes it easier to catch up to them.
- This is great when you need to catch up to a zombie, or stop them from going any further.
- Use this with Burrow to swallow zombies easier.
- This is helpful for stopping zombies about to reach a garden in the Gardens and Graveyards mode.
The Sprint Burrow moves faster underground than the normal Burrow, but it does not go as far. It's great for getting zombies closer to you.
- When a Zombie is close but a little out of reach, use the Sprint Burrow to get to them quickly.
- Test the distance. The Sprint Burrow is better than the normal Burrow, but only if they are not out of your reach.
- This is great for escaping and snatching up a zombie while you're at it.
- When you need to travel farther distances, use the normal Burrow instead of the Sprint Burrow.
The Spiky Spikeweed does more damage than the normal Spikeweed. The drawback is that you can only use two at a time instead of three. It also is more visible than the normal version, so it is harder to hide.
Even though Spiky Spikeweed does more damage, it depends on what you want to do with it and what game mode you're playing on which one you want to use.
- Hiding it isn't necessary in Garden Ops or against summoned zombies so the Spiky Spikeweed is good if you want to do a lot of damage.
- The normal Spikeweed will most likely kill normal zombies anyway, so the extra one you get by choosing the normal version is worth it.
- If you want to do more damage to enemy zombies without actually being there, the Spiky Spikeweed is better.
- It's more of a support ability because you can swallow zombies stuck in the Spikeweed. This means that having more out at a time is better.
- Use this in Garden Ops to cause more damage and help teammates when you can't swallow every zombie that comes in the garden.
