Pokemon GO: How to Get a Sinnoh Stone

Sinnoh Stone is require to evolve certain Pokemon, like Mamoswine and Rhyperior.

Just like in the main Pokemon games, some Pokemon will only evolve when given a certain stone before leveling up. In Pokemon GO, the Sinnoh Stone is used to help that region’s Pokemon reach their final evolution. Strong Battle League and Raid choices such as Mamoswine, Rhyperior, and Roserade all require it to evolve. Here’s how to get Sinnoh Stones in PoGO.

How to Get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon GO

If you’re looking for a Sinnoh Stone, your best bet is to complete Special and Timed Research during events. Events often give higher tier rewards when completing the final tasks, which can include one of these evolution materials.

  • Your chance is increased if there’s Timed Research associated with a Community Day or Spotlight Hour Pokemon that needs the the item to evolve.
  • Having a Research Breakthrough by finishing seven days worth of Field Research also has a chance of dropping one, though it’s a rare item with a low drop chance.

Compete in Battle League

Outside of completing research, you’ll want to compete in the Battle League. Battling against other trainers has the ability to drop a Sinnoh Stone. This can occur when winning two battles in a set. If you need help setting up a team, check out our various battle league guides for the best Pokemon to take with you into the fight. The link is at the bottom of this guide.

Battle Friends or AI Faction Leaders

If you don’t want to battle competitively, you can face off against your friends or against the AI Faction Leaders: Candela, Spark, and Blanche. You’ll get a reward once a day facing off against the AI, which comes from a pool that includes Sinnoh Stone, while you can get up to three rewards for taking on your friends.

Get a Free Item Code

The final way to get one of these evolution items is to watch for a free item code that gives it to you. In the past, there’s been a code that gifts it when redeemed. Checking Pokemon GO’s official social media channels is your best bet for finding new codes. You’ll also want to claim your Amazon Prime rewards if you have that available to you.

Evolutions Requiring a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon GO

There are quite a few final evolutions that require the Sinnoh Stone in PoGO, including my personal favorite: Sneasel into Weavil.

  • Ambipom
  • Dusknoir
  • Electivire
  • Froslass
  • Gallade
  • Gliscor
  • Honchkrow
  • Lickilicky
  • Magmortar
  • Mamoswine
  • Mismagius
  • Porygon-Z
  • Rhyperior
  • Roserade
  • Tangrowth
  • Togekiss
  • Weavile
  • Yanmega

Not all of these evolutions require only the Sinnoh Stone to evolve. Some of the let you choose it or a secondary requirement, letting you get around having to use the stone to evolve it.

That’s how to get a Sinnoh Stone in Pokemon GO, as well as the final evolutions that require one to evolve. Check out our PoGO guides, including the best battle league teams for the various leagues, how to catch certain Pokemon, and Raid tips for more help in the game.
