Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown — Should You Buy the Lost Key from the Scrapper?

Pick up an odd key from an odd fella to access the toughest challenge in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

Did you know that you can spend a few coins and buy one item to access one of the toughest challenges in the entire game? Here, I’ll tell you how to buy the Lost Key in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, as well as how to use it.

Why You Should Buy the Lost Key in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown: What Does the Lost Key do?

Once you make it to the Depths zone, you’ll run into a mysterious NPC called the Scrapper, who sells goods such as amulets that offer boons and penalties. But if you’re here, you knew that, and probably found, as I did, none of the amulets are truly worthwhile.

However, in my opinion, you should definitely buy the Lost Key in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for 3 Xerxes Coins. If you don’t know where to get Xerxes Coins, they’re usually found in platforming challenge sections.

The Lost Key grants you access to a particular chamber in the citadel, which also unlocks the “Hidden Room” trophy and achievement.

Once you’ve purchased the Lost Key from the Scrapper, go to the elevator to the right (the one that leads back to the Haven). Previously, this elevator only took you to each floor and section. With the Lost Key in your possession, it will stop halfway between the Depths and the Haven.

If you continue to the right, you’ll spot a chest with the Gleaming Lion amulet, which increases Athra build-up with each parry. You’ll also see bars that should help you reach an opening at the top.

The Hidden Room challenge is one of the toughest sections in the entire game, and I think it’s a good thing it’s purely optional. You’ll get trapped in a small chamber with several slicer traps and hazards moving in succession.

My personal strategy? Everything here boils down to trial and error, as well as learning as you go along. I had to memorize the patterns, all while using various time powers at my disposal, such as teleporting to safe spots using the Shadow of the Simurgh ability.

The first set of patterns are somewhat easily recognizable, as there’s enough space between the grinder wheels. Later, the traps come in quick succession, and I had to constantly use the Clairvoyance ability to turn objects into solids or incorporeal. If you’re successful, then you can pat yourself on the back for earning the Lilac character skin.

That’s how to get and use the Lost Key in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. You’ve completed one of the game’s hardest challenges, and gotten the Lilac skin and the hidden room trophy and achievement. Not too shabby. For other tips and strategies, visit our PoP: TLC guides hub.
