Resident Evil 4 Remake: S-Tier Weapons

Red9

  • Type: Handgun
  • Power: 2.70

Even despite the nerf in the remake, the Red9 handgun is still the best in the game, with the highest firepower among all other pistols. It’s not as precise as SG-09 R with a laser sight, but with a few upgrades, you’ll find that it doesn’t need the sight as much.

It is also a lot easier to get and craft ammo for Red9 than any other firearm in the game, which is great for dealing with hordes of Ganados. If you master your headshots with Red9, it will serve you well until the very end.

How to Get Red9

After defeating the Del Lago lake monster in Chapter 3, you can find a boat in Chapter 4 that will allow you to get across the lake and locate a chest with the Red9 inside. Follow our guide on how to get Red9 handgun for more details.

If you miss it in Chapter 4, this weapon will be available for purchase from the Merchant in Chapter 5 for 10,000 PTAS.

Riot Gun

  • Type: Shotgun
  • Power: 12.80

What defines a good shotgun is the bullet spread, and Riot Gun has the tightest spread of all three shotguns in the game, which actually makes it deal a lot more damage. On top of that, Riot Gun has the highest rate of fire among all shotguns, as well as the lowest recoil.

The best strategy would be to use Riot Gun against harder enemies and bosses while keeping your Red9 against villagers and other weaker enemies. If you fully upgrade it, then the damage power can reach a staggering 20 points.

How to Get the Riot Gun

This shotgun can be purchased in Chapter 6 from the Merchant for 28,000 PTAS.

SR M1903

  • Type: Bolt Action Rifle
  • Power: 5.30

Here is basically a sniper rifle with a bolt action mechanism and scope, which has a much better accuracy and damage output than any of the assault rifles in the game, such as Stingray and CQBR.

What makes SR M1903 great is the ability to one-shot even Plagas once it’s upgraded. The top accuracy also allows you to get headshots from safety, a must for some of RE4‘s tighter engagements.

How to Get the SR M1903

You can purchase this weapon early on during Chapter 2 once you meet the Merchant for only 12,000 PTAS. He’ll also give you a free scope in addition to the rifle.

LE 5

  • Type: Submachine Gun
  • Power: 1.20

LE 5 has excellent penetration power combined with a scope, along with an impressive rate of fire most players would be crazy to pass up on Hardcore or Professional.

This should be your main weapon when dealing with large groups of enemies and is still reasonably powered at midrange.

How to Get the LE 5

The SMG can be found inside a freezer in Chapter 13. But to open it, you’ll need to power it up first using the Power Control and then complete the Calibration puzzle.

Afterward, you’ll also be able to purchase it from the Merchant for 35,000 PTAS.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: B-Tier Weapons

Broken Butterfly

  • Type: Magnum Revolver
  • Power: 27.00

Magnums are not very precise weapons, but their firepower is second to none. When fully upgraded, Broken Butterfly’s damage output equals 40 points. The issue here is its lack of accuracy, though that can be mitigated to a degree just by staying in close range.

This one isn’t the best choice against Ganados, but you may want to use it on someone who truly deserves all that damage.

How to Get the Broken Butterfly

As soon as you enter the castle in Chapter 7, you’ll be able to purchase it from the Merchant for 42,000 PTAS.

Primal Knife

  • Type: Melee Weapon
  • Power: 1.20

There are several types of knives in the game, but only Primal Knife has infinite durability, which makes it a must-have melee weapon for parrying and sneak attacks.

Although do note that you’ll get the chance to purchase the infinite durability perk only once it is fully upgraded. After that, you can forget about repairing it ever again.

How to Get the Primal Knife

This melee weapon can be obtained only after you find and destroy all Clockwork Castellans in the game.
