Although Unicorn Overlord is a tactical combat game, it isn’t without its RPG choices, which affect your play-through. A particular quest will have you decide whether or not to execute or free Gammel the thief, and here are the benefits of both!
Unicorn Overlord Gammel Guide – Free or Execute?
Gammel is an enemy character you’ll face before rescuing Scarlett in Unicorn Overlord, but like most enemy characters in the game, he isn’t all bad. In fact, after defeating him in battle, he will explain his reasoning for becoming a thief and allow you to grow some sympathy for him.
As Alain, it’s your responsibility to decide if the thief should pay for his crimes or if he deserves a second chance. There are some pros and cons to both situations and here’s what they are:

While there isn’t much of a difference between the two choices, I would suggest setting him free rather than handing him over to the Town Watch. Although handing him over will earn you some quick funds, having him as a potential ally later on will benefit you in the long run.
Thieves are great at dodging attacks and can be a defensive figure for your party. Plus, you can earn more funds as you continue your journey anyway, so avoiding having another enemy on your hands is best.
