Slime Rancher 2: How to Get Moondew Nectar

Here's where to find the elusive Moondew Nectar in Slime Rancher 2.

You may first want Moondew Nectar to keep Flutter Slimes on your ranch, but this nectar is too difficult to keep around as a steady food source in Slime Rancher 2. You’ll have a use for it, but it’s not feeding regular Flutter Slimes.

Moondew Nectar has a tragically short shelf life, meaning it goes bad far faster than the other food items you come across in Slime Rancher 2. Not only that, but they’re relatively difficult to come by as each flower that grants this nectar only spawns one each.

If the small spawn amount wasn’t trouble enough, the flowers are spread throughout Starlight Strand, and it’s not easy to spot them if you don’t know what to look for.

Where to Find Moondew Nectar

Head to Starlight Strand in the evening to start. You’ll find this nectar only from dusk to dawn, and its spawning flowers are absolutely strewn throughout the area. Unfortunately, both the flowers and the nectar are hard to spot, and nearby Flutter Slimes tend to be quick to eat Moondew Nectar on sight.

These flowers are most commonly seen high up, either on trees or rocks. They also seem to be most common in the pink and purple portions of Starlight Strand, particularly in the pink part of the area near the Flutter Gordo.

To give an idea of what to look for, check out the below image. There are six nectar-granting flowers from the player’s point of view here.

Flowers that actively have nectar will look like the first image. When you see a flower still holding its Moondew Nectar, you can extract it directly rather than waiting for it to fall just as you can with fruits. This will keep it safe from wandering Flutter Slimes as well.

Feed the Flutter Gordo, Keep Some Flutter Largo

If you’ve got a keen eye and some patience, it shouldn’t take too long to get enough to feed the Flutter Gordo to satisfaction as you only need 15 Moondew Nectar to make it pop. It is its only and favorite food, after all.

For fans of Flutter Slimes who just want to keep a few on their ranch, the repeated grind to keep them sated with short-lived Moondew Nectar is unrealistic.

Instead of keeping pure Flutter Slimes, consider keeping Flutter Largo on your ranch instead. This way you can feed them their paired slime’s food instead of these hard-to-come-by nectars, and you’ll still have a supply of Flutter Plorts as well as happy, fluttery friends. I did this with some Angler Slimes as they’re my favorite, and it’s been worth it!

Hopefully, this guide will help you more easily find Moondew Nectar, one of the most elusive foods in the current build of the game. We’ve got more Slime Rancher 2 guides coming here on Gameskinny.
