The recipe for Preserve Jars can be unlocked when you reach Farming Level 4 and is also rewarded if you complete the Quality Crops Bundle in the Pantry for the Community Center. Produce varies from season to season, so it’s important to know how to optimize your time and money.

Best Winter Ingredients

Winter can be a daunting time in Stardew Valley, as very little grows, and you may be used to gathering other Artisanal products that are no longer available in the season, such as honey or truffles. It’s far more challenging to make money in Winter, so Preserve Jars are a perfect way to keep revenue at a steady pace. The three best things to put in Preserve Jars during this season are:

  • Crystal Fruit
  • Sturgeon Roe
  • Blob Fish Roe

Crystal Fruit is easy to obtain in Winter, as it can be found via foraging. After putting the fruit in the Preserve Jar, it has a base value of 350g and an Artisan Value of 490g.

Sturgeon Roe is a great option for Winter, as the Sturgeon can be caught in the Mountain Lake during Winter. When putting Sturgeons into a pond, they’ll start to produce Sturgeon Roe, which can then be turned into Caviar when it’s put inside the Preserve Jar. It has a base value of 500g and an Artisan Value of 700g.

The Blob Fish can be caught during Winter at the Night Market, which takes place during days 15-17 at The Beach. It has the same process as the Sturgeon, so when it’s put into a pond, it will start to produce Blob Fish Roe. When the Blob Fish roe is aged in the Preserve Jar, it will have a base value of 560g and an Artisan Value of 784g.

Spring is a little easier, as there are more fruits and vegetables at your disposal. However, a lot of the produce in Spring isn’t very profitable. Preserve Jars really help boost the value of these available items in Spring.

  • Cauliflower
  • Rhubarb

Strawberries in Stardew Valley are only available at Pierre’s Market Store during the Egg Festival, so be sure to stock up. When you’ve bought enough, you’ll be able to make more in the future by having a seed machine. After putting the strawberries in the Preserve Jar, it has a base value of 290g and an Artisan Value of 406g.

Cauliflower seeds can be purchased from Pierre in Pierre’s General Store located in the Town Square. When you’re able to put the cauliflower in the Preserve Jar, it will have a base value of 400g and an Artisan Value of 560g.

Rhubarb seeds can only be purchased from Sandy in The Oasis, located in Calico Desert. Despite it being a longer trip, it’s very beneficial! Once they’ve grown and have been turned into jelly from the Preserve Jar, they have a base value of 490g and an Artisan Value of 686g.
