Stardew Valley: How to Get Cloth

Want to improve your virtual wardrobe? Here's how to get cloth in Stardew Valley.

Cloth in Stardew Valley is an artisan product that can be created from the Loom using Wool. It has many uses and is required for every piece of tailored clothing you make. You’ll also need it as an ingredient if you wish to purchase the Mill from Robin’s Carpenter Shop. It sells for a base price of 470g and an artisan price of 658g, so it’s a great way to make money! From the Recycling Machine

If you’re early in the game and haven’t purchased animals, you can turn soggy newspaper into wool by putting it inside a recycling machine. Soggy newspaper can be found by fishing or by trash diving. It only has a 10% chance of producing wool, but it’s a good starting point.

Sheep and rabbits both produce wool in Stardew Valley. The sheep needs a Deluxe Barn, and the rabbit requires a Deluxe Coop. If you can’t buy both (due to their expensive price), I recommend buying a rabbit, as it has more long-term benefits.

Despite the rabbits dropping wool every four days (sheep regrow their coat every three days), you’ll not need to shear the rabbit, saving some time. If you have a happy rabbit, it will start to drop iridium-quality wool, which gives you a 50% chance of receiving two pieces of cloth when put into the Loom.

Other Ways to Get Cloth

If you don’t want or require a constant source of cloth, Mummies in Skull Cavern have a 20% chance of dropping cloth. You’ll also occasionally receive it from Emily in the mail if you’re good enough friends with her.

If you feel like turning into the town fashionista, you’ll need a constant supply of cloth. Combining it with any type of item will lead to endless clothing opportunities. While you may not be into fashion, cloth also comes in handy if there’s a special villager on your radar. If you gift her this item, you’ll receive a very positive response.

That’s how to get cloth in Stardew Valley. Whether you use it for aesthetics or for more lucrative purposes is up to you! If you liked these tips and want similar content, check out our other SDV guides.
