All Mortal Kombat 1 Brutalities Revealed So Far

Fatalities aren't the only returning finishers in Mortal Kombat 1. Here's everything known about Brutalities so far.

Mortal Kombat 1 brutalities are back. The latest entry in the infamously gory fighting game franchise might not be called Mortal Kombat 12, but that doesn’t mean MK 1 isn’t taking the violence to new levels. In addition to the cinematic fatality finishers that were a highlight of the recent gameplay reveal trailer, it’s been confirmed by NetherRealm and the recent online stress test that these other brutal finishers will be returning as well. Here’s what we know about MK1 (MK12) brutalities.

Just like our current list of Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities, our current information for Mortal Kombat 1 Brutalities is compiled from the June online stress test. Right now, there’s only one MK12 brutality in the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 Brutalities Controls: How to Perform Brutalities

  • The Klassic: Performed as the final hit in the final round
    • Playstation 5: Down + Triangle
    • Xbox Series X|S: Down + Y

Anyone that’s played Mortal Kombat 11 is bound to recognize this one. “The Klassic” was a universal brutality in that game, and it saw the player character using an uppercut/launcher move to knock the opponent’s head off. It’s returning to MK1 as a universal brutality again, and it even requires the same inputs.

Something that’s currently unknown is whether other brutalities will have specific limitations for performing them as they did in the prior two games. While some just required precise timing, many also wouldn’t activate unless you completed certain tasks (such as landing a certain number of throws) beforehand. For example, “The Klassic” would only work if you didn’t block in the final round.

Are There Hidden Mortal Kombat 12 Brutalities?

Unlisted, hidden MK1 brutalities wouldn’t be a new concept to the series, as both Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 had their fair share of examples. There’s no saying whether Mortal Kombat 1 will or won’t have any just yet, but it doesn’t seem that there are any in the stress test. Perhaps the pre-order beta? At launch? We’ll have to wait and see.

For now, that covers all that we know about brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1. We’ll be updating this as more brutalities become known and once we’ve managed to get our hands on the game ourselves. If you’re interested in more flashier finishers, our aforementioned Fatalities list will also be updated leading up to release.
