How to Get Bloom Seeds in Warhammer 40K Chaos Gate

The second mission of Chaos Gate introduces Bloom Seeds, a resource used for research, weapon upgrades, and more. The primary way of getting them is by killing a seed carrier with a critical hit. This is easier said than done, however, but you can actually guarantee a critical hit on carriers by investing in an ability called Hammerhand. This ability cost 1AP and 2WP to use during battle, so it’s not too intensive, and vastly increases your chances of harvesting the resource.

Only Justicars, Interceptors, and Paladins can learn the ability, and it only takes a couple of skill points to unlock. Make sure each of your knights in that class has Hammerhand. During missions, you’ll also want to keep an eye out for Bloom Seed plants, as you can simply harvest seeds from those without a fight.

Your other primary way of harvesting Bloom Seeds is by using the Apothecary class, as they have a Surgeon ability that lets them harvest a seed from an enemy without killing them.

Research that Boosts Bloom Seed Harvesting

There are two pieces of research that you’ll want to invest in that significantly boost your seed intake. The first is “Advanced Seed Access,” which grants +1 seed and access to Extractor Servo Skulls. As a note, you’ll need to unlock the second tier of research before you can access it.

Any knight can equip these Extractor Skulls, which don’t cost anything to use and have a range of 15 and 5 ammo. These can be sent out to automatically harvest a seed from an enemy. Being able to harvest from range is absolutely vital.

The second piece of research is right below and titled “Advanced Seed Extraction,” and grants +1 seed for each one that you obtain.

While there’s only one type of Bloom Seed for the first portion of the game, before long there’ll be five different types, noted by color. Extracting the different colors works exactly the same, but only certain colors will be available in missions, and you can see which ones on the mission summary screen.

Certain points in the story will require you to complete research to move the story forward, so there’ll be times you need to focus on collecting specific colors. At these times you might want to consider passing up a mission if it doesn’t have the colors you need.

That’s everything you need to know about how to harvest more Bloom Seeds. For even more tips and help, make sure to check out our Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters guide hub
